This is a second year course after Beginners Japanese 11. This course will enable you to practice further and master what you have learned in the beginners level. You will also develop your proficiency in Japanese to prepare you for Japanese 12. Through active class participation and role-playing, you will continue to familiarize yourself with various aspects of day-to-day communication in Japanese.
After successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
1. Give practical information about yourself, family and friends.
2. Comprehend and respond to statements, questions, and commands
related to shopping, asking directions, dining out, leisure, sports, and fashion.
3. Read and write KATAKANA.
4. Read and recognize approximately 50 KANJI.
5. Have a deeper cultural understanding of Japan.
In addition to the above-mentioned goals, we will enjoy a number of hands-on cultural activities such as origami, calligraphy, cooking, and tea ceremony.
As this is an interactive language course, class attendance and participation are crucial for successful completion. Grades will be assessed based on oral and written work, quizzes and tests of learning outcomes. Speaking, listening, reading and writing will be evaluated.
